Cleaning Schedule Ideas
I know, cleaning a whole house or apartment can be beyond overwhelming. Especially, if you don’t have a lot of energy or strength to maintain day to day activities. Sometimes, it is helpful to have a template of someone else’s cleaning schedule. One of the most important things I can share before I continue is understanding that you must be adaptable for your own good.
The way I manage to keep my house clean, the way I like, is by listening to my body and having designated jobs for designated days.
Every Monday, no matter what, is laundry day. On Laundry day, I do all of our clothing that needs cleaned, I clean our bedsheets, I clean all our towels and the entire house’s handtowels. I dont rush myself throughout the day as long as I get everything through the washing machine and dryer by bed time. On a perfect day, I would get everything washed and put away appropriately. On days that aren’t perfect, I get at least the laundry done and then I handle the folding and putting up the following day. Remember, Be kind to yourself.
Every Tuesday, I continue putting away or handing up laundry if there is anything left. I then make sure to focus on dusting the entire house. When I dust I make sure to dust the baseboards, corners of rooms, and the molding. I do best when I take one task and do that task across the whole house without trying to complete an entire room’s cleaning.
On Wednesdays, I clean the toilets of the house. This requires cleaning the inside and outside of the toilet. I will also windex all of the mirrors and windows in the house. Again, you have to remember that there are days where these situations look different or cleaning gets done on different days.
Thursdays are the days I focus on sinks and counters of all the bathrooms and countertops. There are a lot of extra countertop space in my house so cleaning this is no small feat.
Every Friday, I work hard to clean the floors. I have the roomba run throughout the week and then once I know the majority of the dog hair is picked up. I will come through at wet swiffer with my bona mop.
I then use the weekend to finish anything that i didn’t get to or didn’t complete to the standard I appreciate.
These are things like: Cleaning the stove top off, wiping the fridge down, wiping the oven & microwave down, deep cleaning the coffee pot, running a cleaning cycle in the dishwasher, cleaning cycle for the laundry, cleaning cycle for Keurig, cleaning the inside of the microwave, organizing the fridge and pantry, and making sure that while I am doing that I am making my grocery list.
On Sundays, we go to church, go out to lunch and lastly, grocery shop.
I really hope this rough schedule for cleaning can help you create whatever schedule works better for you. Let me know, if you find other good tips and tricks!
